About me
I have been around horses and riding since I was little. After graduating from UCL with a BSc in Biology I soon realised that the graduate career route was not for me and I really wanted to return to being with horses. In September 2006 I started studying with Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship with a view to helping people with horses with behavioural problems. At one of these courses there was an Equine Touch demonstration where they explained how many undesirable behaviours stem from real or remembered pain. Having owned an abused and challenging horse as a teenager this struck a chord with me. The more I looked into Equine Touch the more I realised that with this wonderful tool you can release the pain and even the memories of pain, before you start to address anything else.
This was really brought home by the horse I bought at the same time. An adorable looking 12’2 Icelandic- Orion soon taught me the many and varied reactions a horse can have to pain. He started with napping which got worse until he would go backwards, spin and threaten me with mini rears. His problem was deep dorsal muscular spasm but not once did he act cold backed or react when you touched his saddle area. Using Equine Touch as part of the team of the vet and physiotherapist his back in now fine and he hunts, jumps and does endurance.
I am now a fully qualified practitioner of Equine Touch and VHT, helping people and horses to live better, less painful lives.
