Equine Touch Foundation Level

The Equine Touch is a gentle, body-based modality, non-invasively addressing the connective tissue such as fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments.

The tissue is mobilized and “stimulated” by using a specific move, or series of moves, over precise points of the horse’s body. These could be acupuncture points, trigger points or around sites of common injuries. It is simple to apply and easy to learn.

Firstly a very specific body balancing foundation address is applied to the whole body. What is applied to one side is repeated on the other, utilizing the “blue print” effect. Specific Area of Concern addresses can then be applied to this balanced and relaxed body thus helping to ensure a greater chance of success in encouraging longer lasting changes. These areas are chosen according to tissue response and the horse’s reaction to our touch.

By addressing the meridian pathways, together with muscles and fascia, The Equine Touch crosses the line between physical bodywork and an energy modality. It can have the effect of inducing deep relaxation, releasing hypertonic and traumatized muscles, improving muscle tone, encouraging recovery from injury and muscle atrophy, reducing the pain spiral and assisting in detoxification and lymphatic drainage by increasing circulation. The horse’s awareness is changed and it is encouraged to re-balance not only physically, but emotionally for deep relaxation also encourages the autonomic nervous system to drop toward repair and renewal. Energy blockages and unwanted structures appear to dissolve as the flow of Ki is stimulated through the meridians. This allows the equine to tap into its own innate healing ability and to allow it to work to its maximum potential.

Learning Equine Touch

There are Foundation coaches and Instructors based all round the UK and internationally.

Suz is a Foundation Coach and teaches the Foundation Part 1 and Part 2 weekend courses.

These courses are suitable for both devoted horse owners keen to learn how to help their own horses, and people starting out on the road to becoming an Equine Touch Practitioner. Courses are currently hosted from her home in the hills of the Welsh borders near Clyro, Powys.

You will learn a complete address for the horse called the Basic Body Balance in Part 1. In Part 2 you refine your technique and learn some incredibly useful addresses for common problem areas including the shoulders and TMJ. Before practicing on the very patient teaching horses Berty, Suede, Seren and Norman you practice everything on your fellow course mates first. Equine Touch is very effective on people and is done through light clothing. This way you learn to help your 4 and 2 legged family and I am certain you have got the hang of the new information before we head out to the horses.

Time commitment: Part 1 – 2 days. Part 2 – 2 days.

8-10 weeks between courses.

It is also possible to study the full foundation course in 3 days with an Instructor if that suits better, however many students find the longer format really allows them to consolidate their learning better.

Financial Commitment: £200 per course.

This includes a bound printed manual with all the course material, a laminated cheat sheet, tea and cake. I can help you find accommodation, please bring your own lunch.
